"Chaparri is an
absolutely enchanting place
and I can't wait to return
there - this time with my
kids. The tropical dry
forest there is a
fascinating ecosystem -
alive with the music and
color of countless,
beautiful endemic birds. It
was a huge thrill to see and
film spectacled bears,
swaying like fearless
trapeze artists at the top
of guava trees. (Just don't
stand underneath them as you
may be showered with the by-products
of eating the tasty fruit.)
At night, I had some of the
best star-gazing I have ever
had - a vast, clear southern
sky. The accomodation is
perfect: simple, rustic but
very comfortable adobe
bungalows, with one of the
best hot showers I've stood
under! The food is delicious
and healthy, and the staff
friendly and keen. Overall,
Chaparri is a wonderful
place to visit - to relax,
slow down and experience
nature. The fact that
Chaparri is one of the most
successful models of
community-led conservation
and ecotourism is another
great reason to visit and
experience the magic of the
dry forest."

"We were really impressed
with Chaparri. You have done
a simply wonderful job! The
cabins are comfortable but
not fancy, the food
delicious and ample without
being ostentatious. Thomas
was a good bird guide.
Altogether a model of what a
good ecolodge should be.
Thank you very much for
hosting us, and of course I
look forward to return
visits and to working with
you in the years to come."

It is hard to describe
the beauty of Chaparri. It
is a wonderful and serenely
peaceful place. The birds
are very special and the
lodge rustic but supremely
comfortable, and the meals
are memorable! I cannot wait
to return.

I went with my wife after 8
years away from Peru. One of
our best decisions was to go
to Chaparri. We have been in
many places in Peru, but
Chaparri was a unique
experience. We would love to
come back.

Luis and Thomas were very
helpful and delightful to be
with and added to our
enjoyment of Chaparri. I
wish we could return soon
and will tell everyone that
is interested in Peru about
your fabulous spot.

Many thanks again to you
and all the staff at the
lodge for helping this
happen for me. Birding was
great...other wildlife
superb. I really enjoyed
seeing things like the
tarantulas and last night I
was out walking just by the
accommodation and a tamandua
walked across the path with
a tiny young on her back.
Awesome!

Chaparri is one of the most
beautiful places I've
visited in the Neotropics. I
was impressed about the art
of design, construction and
comfort of the bungalows, as
well as about the big
diversity of plants and
wildlife in the area. The
whole project is a great and
positive example of
protecting and conserving
nature. Chaparri is highly
recommended to any nature
nature lover and
photographer!
